About HeadstartU
HeadstartU helps self-directed learners build and follow structured Study Paths — with real practice, thoughtful tasks, and AI feedback when you want it.
What we do
Study Paths
Explore public paths created by other learners, or build your own with AI-assisted outlines and lessons. Submit work for rubric-based feedback and track completion in your profile.
Learn actively
Paths are designed for doing, not just reading — offline practice, online activities, and focused assignments you can work through at your own pace.
Track progress
See how far you’ve come on each path, revisit feedback, and keep a clear record of what you’ve completed — whether you’re studying solo or as part of a household.
For homeschool families
HeadstartU isn’t only for independent self-study. Homeschool parents can also set up a Homeschool Hub — your virtual learning space for one or more students.
- Create and log curriculum-aligned learning activities (including AI-generated ones)
- Maintain learner profiles, journals, work samples, and end-of-term reports
- Track progress against the Australian Curriculum (version 9) for your records or authorities
Who’s behind HeadstartU
Hi — I’m Andrew Kemp, a learning designer and technologist. I designed and built HeadstartU myself to support independent and lifelong learning.
I care about curiosity-driven learning and building tools that support it without getting in the way — whether that’s a learner following their own Study Path or a family running a homeschool from home.
I have a PhD and Masters in Education and am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK). What drives me is helping learners engage with learning in ways that feel real and rewarding.
