Supermarket Math Adventure

Approximate time: 30 minutes

1. Before starting the shopping, create a simple shopping list with your child. Include items with different prices.
2. As you shop, ask your child to pick two of their favorite items and calculate the total cost by adding the prices.
3. If there are discounts or offers, ask your child to calculate how much money you'll save.
4. Encourage them to keep track of the total spending and remaining budget using mental math or a calculator, reinforcing their number sense and understanding of addition and subtraction.
5. Discuss the results together and encourage them to think about different strategies they used to solve the problems.
